MaxGian Alcalde has been kidnapped by his non-custodial mother, Margaret (Maika) Sanchez Mejia Dunbar Alcalde. There is strong evidence she has taken MaxGian and fled into Mexico and on to Latin America or the Caribbean Islands. In August 2008 MaxGian's parents concluded a difficult 13 month divorce where Maika didn't accept the shared 50/50 custody ruling. She planned the abduction over many months and, after selling a home and consolidating her finances, kidnapped MaxGian over an extended holiday vacation. Initial News Story saved on YouTube

MaxGian is listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website. Maika is believed to be suffering from mental illness and is wanted by the State of Idaho and the FBI for kidnapping and fleeing the State. Interpol Notices for both Maika (Red) and MaxGian (Yellow) have been issued. We are all very concerned for MaxGian's safety as Maika's lawless behavior and fugitive status can further endanger MaxGian. This is our story.

At 8:35am on the 26th of November, 2008 I dropped MaxGian off at his Elementary School in Boise, Idaho for a 12 day stay with his mother per our vacation schedule. Maika picked him up from school at approximately 1:00pm the same day, leaving his backpack and coat at school. MaxGian had informed me over the previous 3 days that he and his mama were going to Nevada to visit the Hartmans. These are Maika's friends who have a son MaxGian's age (Joshua). Maika did not respond to my email and vmail requests for details about her plans. At 7:30pm on the 26th, MaxGian called my cell phone and told me he was in an airport and his older brother, Iani, was going to pick them up. Iani attends Biola University in La Mirada, California (southern) so I asked MaxGian if he was in the Los Angeles airport near Iani's school. He did not know which airport they were in so I asked to speak with his mama. MaxGian held the phone and spoke to Maika. I cound not hear what was said. MaxGian came back on the phone and said he was going to visit his brother first, and then he would visit his friend Joshua in Nevada. He said he had to go and quickly told me he loved me. This was the last time I heard my son's voice.

The following day was Thanksgiving and I was unable to reach MaxGian or Maika via her cell phone. Each call went straight to voicemail. We typically communicated daily. Maika and MaxGian never visited the friend in Nevada. On Monday, 01 Dec, MaxGian did not make it to his Elementary school and Maika did not contact the school to excuse him. On Tuesday the Boise Police came to investigate, but because it was viewed as a custody issue, they could do very little to help. I had to wait until Sunday, 07 Dec, when Maika did not return MaxGian, before I could file a missing person's report. Those were the most difficult 6 days of my life.

It is with both pain and determination I ask for your help to share this information with everyone you know and help us locate and bring my dear boy home. Someone out there may have seen them or have knowlege about their plans. Please take a few minutes to review our website, look at the pictures and note the details about them. MaxGian: Age: 07 yrs, Height: 4’ 0’’ (1.22 m), Weight: 55 lbs (25 kg), Hair: Brown, Eyes: Blue)

He is very active and extremely social when in a comfortable environment. He will likely cling closely to his mother when in a new or uncomfortable environment. He likes to play all sports, ride skateboards, play with toy light sabers and swords, assemble legos, dress up in costumes, and play video games. He will refer to his mother as “mama”. His favorite foods are chicken tacos & taquitos, chicken strips with French fries, pasta with olive oil & salt, green peas, raw carrots, and pancakes.

Maika:      Age: 58 yrs, Height: 5’ 1’’ (1.55 m), Weight: 110 lbs (50 kg), Hair: Black, Eyes: Brown)

She may be perceived as being shy or socially awkward and very cautious in new environments. Maika is strongly religious (Evangelical Christian, non-denominational) and believes she is acting with God’s direction. It is possible she could be associated with a fringe Christian organization and will certainly be attending a church. She will seek spiritual and emotional support from others and may appear distant or wounded. Once comfortable, she is likely to express very strong opinions about how people should live their lives. Maika is doting and controlling of MaxGian, and will likely keep him very close to her. She prefers to home school MaxGian over public or private schools. Maika is in good physical condition and if possible, will run and/or visit a gym daily. She is knowledgeable in nutrition, Pilates, and typically carries a wide range of supplements. She strongly prefers warm tropical weather and speaks Spanish, Italian, French, German, and of course English.
